The primary function of a timing belt is to maintain the precise timing between the crankshaft and camshaft. The crankshaft’s rotation drives the camshaft(s), which, in turn, controls the timing of the engine valves. In a four-stroke engine, this synchronization ensures that the intake valves open at the correct moment to allow air and fuel into the combustion chamber, while the exhaust valves open at the appropriate time to expel combustion gases. If the timing is off, valves could open or close too early or too late, which could cause the engine to run inefficiently or even lead to severe engine damage. CR rubber timing belts are designed to withstand the stresses and repetitive movements of these components, ensuring that the engine’s timing remains precise throughout its lifespan.

In addition to controlling timing, the timing belt also transmits rotational energy from the crankshaft to the camshaft. This is crucial because the camshaft(s) regulate the valve movement, and thus, the entire engine cycle.
